I cry
as others should cry over me,
but nobody, nobody truly
understands my anguish.
I cry
for the blindness of others –
those who are not able to see me,
who meet me on their way
and cannot see,
deep into my eyes,
my endless begging for love –
I just would like to be heard
and feel dearly beloved by everybody,
what I made
with long martyrdom and such a pristine faith …
I cry
as others should cry over me,
or shouldn’t, shouldn’t cry,
but, at least, tear me away from my anguish,
from the merciful death – the only one who wants me.

Piango
come dovrebbero gli altri su me piangere,
e nessuno invece nessuno
la mia agonia intende.
Piango
per la cecità degli altri,
di tutti che non sanno vedermi,
che sulla lor strada m’incontrano
e nel fondo dei miei occhi
vedere non sanno
quest’ infinita supplica d’amore,
ch’ io in carità essere sentita vorrei,
e cara a tutti sentirmi
qual mi son creata
con lungo martirio e sì pura fede…
Piango
come dovrebbero gli altri su me piangere,
o, non piangere, no
ma all’agonia strapparmi,
dalla morte che pietosa sola mi vuole.
