blood drenching vivid
couch, carpet, floor
and the snake-figured almanac
vouching you are
a million green counties from here,
than to sit mute, twitching so
under prickling stars,
with stare, with curse
blackening the time
goodbyes were said, trains let go,
and I, great magnanimous fool, thus wrenched from
my one kingdom.
È meglio che ogni fibra si spezzi
e vinca la furia,
e il sangue vivo inzuppi
divano, tappeto, pavimento
e l’almanacco decorato con serpenti
testimone che tu sei
a un milione di verdi contee da qui,
che sedere muti, con questi spasmi
sotto stelle pungenti,
maledicendo, l’occhio sbarrato
annerendo il momento
che gli addii vennero detti, e si lasciarono partire i treni,
ed io, gran magnanimo imbecille,
così strappato
dal mio solo regno.
