I’m beautiful again
and this may be
my last autumn.
More beautiful than when
he admired me under the sun,
beautiful and idle to his absent eyes –
like a leaf made of shadow.
But some nights,
into silence that no longer
upsets tears,
I feel as invoked
with thirst of despair
by his faraway lips.

Sono tornata bella
e forse è questo l’ultimo
mio autunno.
Bella più di quando gli
piacqui nel sole,
bella e vana ai suoi assenti occhi,
come una foglia d’ombra.
Ma certe notti,
nel silenzio che più non
turba il pianto,
invocata mi sento
con disperata sete
della sua bocca lontana.
