In the eyes
boundless paths unravel –
they are two crossroads
of shadow.
Death always comes
from those hidden fields
(gardener cutting
teardrop’s blooms).
Pupils lack horizons.
We lose ourselves in them
as in the pure forest.
In the castle of you will go
without coming back
there is a road
beginning in the iris.
Lad without love, God
save you from red ivy.
Stay away from the traveller,
little Elena embroidering
pretty neckties.
(Transl. by D. Foglia)
Negli occhi si aprono
infiniti sentieri.
Sono due crocicchi
dell’ombra.
La morte arriva sempre
da quei campi occulti.
(Giardiniera che taglia
i fiori delle lacrime)
Le pupille non hanno
orizzonti.
Ci perdiamo in loro
come nella foresta vergine.
Al castello dell’andrai
e non tornerai
si va per la strada
che comincia nell’iride.
Ragazzo senz’amore,
Dio ti salvi dall’edera rossa.
Guardati dal viaggiatore,
Elenita che ricami
cravatte.
