I am alone amidst the trees at the lake’s edge,
I live in friendship with the shore’s old firs
and in secret understanding with all the young rowans.
Alone I lie and wait,
I have seen no one walk by.
Great flowers look down on me from tall stems, bitter creepers climb in my embrace,
I have a single name for everything, and that is love.
Sono sola tra gli alberi al lago,
vivo in amicizia con i vecchi abeti a riva
e in segreta attesa con tutti i giovani sorbi.
Sola, sto distesa ad aspettare,
non ho visto passare nessuno.
Grandi fiori mi guardano dall’alto di
lunghi steli,
pungenti rampicanti mi strisciano sul grembo,
ho un solo nome per tutto, ed è amore.
