I was there, on the early day living
beyond the fir trees,
I walked over enlightened fields and mountains,
I crossed dead lakes – and captive weaves
murmured to me a secret song –
I passed through white banks, calling
the sleeping gentians by their names – under the snow I dreamed of
a buried tremendous city made of flowers.
I looked like a thorny flower
in the mountains,
and I gazed at the rocks,
at the high cliffs through the wind’s seas –
and I sang to myself about a faraway
summer, flaring up my blood
with its bitter rhododendrons.

sepolta –
io fui sui monti
