I robbed the Woods –
the trusting Woods.
the unsuspecting trees
brought out their burs and mosses
my fantasy to please.
I scanned their trinkets curious—I grasped—I bore away –
What will the solemn Hemlock –
What will the Oak tree say?
Ho derubato i boschi,
i boschi confidenti –
gli alberi fiduciosi
mostravano le loro bacche e muschi
per compiacere la mia fantasia.
Esplorai curiosa i loro ninnoli –
Afferrai – strappai via –
Che mai dirà l’austero abete?
Che mai dirà la quercia?
