February evening,
the moon appears.
The avenue remains
sunlit, though evening has begun to fall.
Indifferent youths will gather here,
scatter toward small aims.
And it’s the thought
of death that helps us, after all, to live.
Sera di febbraio,
spunta la luna.
Nel viale è ancora
giorno, una sera che rapida cala.
Indifferente gioventù s’ allaccia;
sbanda a povere mete.
Ed è il pensiero
della morte che, infine, aiuta
a vivere.
