They mouth love’s language. Gnash
the thirteen teeth
your lean jaws grin with. Lash
your itch and quailing, nude greed of the flesh.
Love’s breath in you is stale, worded or sung,
as sour as cat’s breath,
harsh of tongue.
This grey that stares
lies not, stark skin and bone.
leave greasy lips their kissing. None
will choose her what you see to mouth upon.
Dire hunger holds his hour.
pluck forth your heart, saltblood, a fruit of tears.
Pluck and devour!
Declamano il linguaggio d’amore. Digrigna
i tredici denti
con cui ridono le tue scarne mascelle. Staffìla
le voglie e i tremori, nudo appetir della carne.
Fiato d’amore è guasto in te, parole o canti,
agro come fiato di gatto,
scabro di lingua.
Quel grigio che ti fissa
non mente, bruto osso e pelle. Lascia
viscide labbra ai loro baci. Non uno per lei sceglie
quel che ora vedi, a declamarci sopra.
Orrenda fame ha la sua ora.
Stràppati il cuore, salso sangue, frutto di lagrime,
strappa e divora!
