Jacques Prevert – Fiesta

Paul Cezanne, Afternoon in Naples, 1875

The glasses were empty
and the bottle was shattered
and the bed was wide open
and the door was tight shuttered
and all the glass stars
of happiness and beauty
glittered in the dust
of the dirty room
and I was dead drunk
and I was a fire of joy
you were drunk and alive
in my naked arms.

E i bicchieri eran vuoti
e la bottiglia infranta
e il letto spalancato
e l’uscio era sprangato
e tutte le stelle di vetro
della felicità e della bellezza
lucevano nella polvere
della stanza mal spazzata
ed ero ubriaco morto
ed ero fuoco di gioia
ed eri ebbra vivente
nuda tra le mie braccia.
