You know all about me: you know
what’s on my desk, too.
You’re right, I can’t come in:
and time does not pass, or blindly passes when I’m with you.
The sun is still high, how can that be?
In the ivy where your feet
and your rope shoes sink,
your chills are geckos going through it,
looking for hot. The garden
is in a light-green
and azure-gold net. Leave
again, renew the path,
you’re right: it’s not about
calendars, or sundials.

Sai tutto di me: sai anche quello
che è posato sulla mia scrivania.
Non devo entrare, hai ragione:
e non passa il tempo, o passa
inavvertibile in tua compagnia.
Il sole è ancora alto, come è possibile?
Nell’edera dove tu affondi
i piedi, le tue scarpe di corda,
quei brividi sono gechi che la traversano
in cerca di caldo. Il giardino
è in una rete di verdechiaro
e di oro inazzurrato. Andare via
ancora, riprendere il cammino,
hai ragione: non è questione
di calendari, di meridiane.
