Giovanni Pascoli was an Italian poet and an emblematic figure of nineteenth century Italian literature. Overall his work tend to mix the old classicist tradition – inherited from his teacher Giosuè Carducci -and the new themes of decadentism and symbolism, focusing on domestic life and nature, developing which he called poetica del fanciullino (poetics of the child).
