to say our poignant last farewells…

Addio a tutto quel che il cuore nutriva,
a quel che, uccisa la tua vita, l’ha incenerita nel tuo petto affranto.
Addio…tra molti e molti anni
con un fremito ricorderai
questo paese, questa riva e la sua luce meridiana,
dove costante è il bagliore e perenne la fioritura,
dove al respiro di tarde, pallide rose
si riscalda l’aria decembrina.
