The night is darkening round me,
The wild winds coldly blow;
But a tyrant spell has bound me,

La notte si addensa attorno a me
selvaggio e gelido soffia il vento
ma una magia implacabile mi ha vinto
e non posso non posso fuggire.
Alberi giganteschi piegano i rami spogli
gravi di neve
veloce la tempesta si fa vicina
pure non posso fuggire.
Nuvole e nuvole su di me
deserti e deserti ai miei piedi
nessun terrore potrà allontanarmi
non voglio non posso fuggire.
