We’ll hear in tired stillness
the distant music
of our overwhelming youth,
which arched over itself
a long time ago
and smiled as befuddled
by too much sweetness and tremble.
It will be like hearing on a street
during the divine night
unwreathed notes ascending
– as slow as gloaming –
from the heart of a lonesome house.
Life’s pulses
and disharmonious causes for reflection:
they created for us, my soul,
the storms of all harmonies
in the tense disquiet of your love.
Because we have always fled
from all things
– restless and unsatisfied –
always carrying in our heart
the sorrowful love
towards all things.

Ascolteremo nella calma stanca
la musica remota
della nostra tremenda giovinezza
che in un giorno lontano
si curvò su se stessa
e sorrideva come inebriata
dalla troppa dolcezza e dal tremore.
Sarà come ascoltare in una strada
nella divinità della sera
quelle note che salgono slegate
lente come il crepuscolo
dal cuore di una casa solitaria.
Battiti della vita,
spunti senz’armonia,
ma che nell’ansia tesa del tuo amore
ci crearono, o anima,
le tempeste di tutte le armonie.
Ché da tutte le cose
siamo sempre fuggiti
irrequieti e insaziati
sempre portando nel cuore
l’amore disperato
verso tutte le cose.
