Are you cold? – You asked me
and you hold me tight in a hug.
In you huddled with confidence,
are fully blossomed … And what
birdsong overseas have heard!
South winds began to blow.
And as un’amarena, still intimidated
I gave away my colors.
Where are you, for free, today,
after she left her alone in the snow?
Heedless, do not ask me more:
you cold? now
that winter is around me,
with frost and a white desert.
And I, ripe black cherry first time,
I tremble with my burning leaves.
“Hai freddo?” – Mi hai chiesto
e mi hai stretto in un abbraccio.
In te rannicchiata con fiducia,
sono sbocciata appieno… E quali
canti di uccelli d’ oltremare ho udito!
Venti del Sud iniziavano a soffiare.
E come un’ amarena, ancora intimidita
ho dato via i miei colori.
Dove sei, libero, oggi,
dopo avermi lasciata sola nella neve?
Incurante, non mi chiedi più:
hai freddo?…Adesso
quell’ inverno è intorno a me,
col gelo e un bianco deserto.
Ed io, amarena matura innanzi tempo,
tremo con le mie foglie bruciate.
