Hebrus, you flow, the most beautiful of rivers
past Aenus into the glancing sea,
surging throug the land of Thrace…
And many maidens visit you to bathe
their lovely thighs with tender hands;
they are enchanted by your divine water like perfumed oil.
Ebro, meraviglioso fiume,
che sfociavi nel cupo mare di Eno.
Rompevi il mugghio
dei pascoli traci.
Sulle rive, fanciulle come sciami.
Dolci mani che accarezzano tenere carni,
come l’olio l’acqua degli dei.
