Gaius Valerius Catullus (84 – 54 BC)

Gaius Valerius Catullus was a Latin poet of the late Roman Republic. His works are considered the finest lyric poetry of ancient Rome, and significantly influenced Ovid and Virgil. He wrote in the neoteric style about his personal life and a woman called Lesbia, turning away from classical epic poetry.

José Saramago (1922-2010)

José Saramago was a Portuguese writer, awarded with 1998 Nobel Prize in Literature. His works commonly present fantastic and subversive perspectives. Due to the political censorship of his work, Saramago went into exile on the Spanish island of Lanzarote, where he lived until his death in 2010.
